These two platforms use fundamentally different carburetor designs. Here is what to check for each:

A correctly installed carburetor is only the starting point. Getting the best performance from a Chinese 125cc dirt bike or GY6 scooter carburetor also requires confirming that jetting, needle position, and idle circuit are set correctly for the specific engine.
Main Jet Sizing
The main jet controls fuel delivery at three-quarter to full throttle. A jet that is too small causes lean running and overheating under hard acceleration. A jet that is too large causes rich running, black exhaust, and reduced power. Most stock 125cc dirt bike engines run a 95 to 105 main jet in the PZ20 carburetor. If the bike was modified with a performance exhaust or air filter, re-jetting is usually necessary. GY6 150cc scooters typically run a 98 to 108 main jet depending on the specific engine variant.
Needle Position and Mid-Range Response
The needle controls fuel delivery at one-quarter to three-quarter throttle. Position is adjusted by moving the circlip on the needle shank. Raising the needle richens the mid-range. Lowering it leans the mid-range. A dirt bike that bogs in the middle of the throttle range but runs cleanly at idle and full throttle usually has a needle position issue rather than a jet size problem.
Idle Circuit Adjustment
